A great deal of the fire research done through the PNW research station is located at the
Pacific Wildland Fire Sciences Laboratory, but there are some resources and projects that are more general to the research station. The PNW station maintains a set of models and programs related to fire behavior, fire effects, and hazardous fuels reduction. The fire
tools pages are filled with downloads, publications, descriptions, and case studies of application for a variety of technological applications, including: BluSky, BlueSkyRAINS, Consume 2.1, Fuel Characteristic Classification System, and My Fuel Treatment Planner, among many. The station also has a well-developed science applications and delivery program related to fire that has produced 3 fire-related evaluation tools for land mangers – The Interior Northwest Landscape Analysis System (INLAS), the FIA BioSum model, and the Spatial Resource Support System.
