Advances In Fire Practice ► Instructor's Corner

Welcome to the Instructor's Corner

The Wildland Fire Lesson Learned Center is dedicated to improving organizational learning within the wildland fire community. To that end, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the transfer of knowledge between different individuals, groups, and regions in relation to fire. The pages described below are geared to help increase communication among fire science instructors and also among fire science students.

Curriculum Exchange

The exchange is designed to be a resource for instructors across the country seeking materials and ideas in developing courses in fire science. We hope that you seriously consider becoming a participating member of the fire education community by making your own materials available on the site.

To post materials, click the link below and it will take you through a series of steps for posting syllabi, labs, tests, and lectures.

Article Library

Advances in Fire Practice has collected a set of fire science articles for instructors.  These articles are available for use in fire-related curricula, and are not to be duplicated for other purposes.

You can create an online fire science discussion among your students using seminal fire science journal articles as well as recently released articles. This section can be used to assign article reviews to students and to provide an online space for discussion of the articles and reviews.

You must be logged in to download the full text of an article.

Instructors can set up either private (password-protected) or public neighborhoods for their classes. Within the neighborhoods students can download articles, post reviews, and comments on other reviewed articles by their classmates. Instructors have the options of assigning articles from the Instructors’ Corner library or from articles found elsewhere on this site.
