Barry Point: The Fire Environment, Fire Behavior, and Communities at Risk

The Barry Point Fire burned in an area that was predisposed to large fire growth with rapid spread rates and high resistance to control. This was due primarily to a low snowpack, a warm and dry spring/summer, fuel availability and continuity, low dead fuel moistures, steep and rugged terrain, and a hot/dry (85 to 90°F) and unstable air mass that persisted through mid‐August (several Haines 5 or 6 days).
