As the National Park Service Midwest Regional Fire GIS Specialist, Kathie provides program management though the development and implementation of NPS and interagency geospatial data standards, standard operating procedures, and policy guidelines. Fire staff in the region receive technical support on the use of GIS and GPS, data, and changing technologies through this regional position contact.
Kathie is a member of the NPS Fire Geospatial Systems Committee (FGSC), formerly chartered under the NPS Fire Management Leadership Board (FMLB). Kathie an NPS technical advisor on the NWCG Geospatial Subcommittee (GSC). This includes membership on the NWCG Geospatial Training Unit (GTU) as the faculty lead of the interagency course, GPS for Fire Management Operations & ICS. It also includes project manager for the revision of the NWCG publication, GIS Standard Operating Procedures on Incidents (GSTOP). She is also the co-chair on the NWCG Data Standards and Terminology Subcommittee.
