Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department

Bio

I've grown up in the fire service and have always been active in it since I was 14 years old. I began as a Chandler Fire Department Cadet in 1994 and held every rank in the program from Captain through Chief until I was hired by the Tempe Fire Department in May of 2001. I attended the East Valley Institute of Technology's Firefighting Technology program and completed the two year program in just one year. I graduated second in my class. I have served the predominantly emergency medical service/structural based firefighting Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department as a firefighter/EMT, engineer/EMT, engineer/paramedic, and currently work as a captain/paramedic. I am a qualified technical rescue technician (rope, confined space, swift/still water, structural and trench collapse) and hazardous materials technician and spent 8 years assigned to the special operations squad (SQ278). I am currently assigned to Truck Company 276.  I began parttime work with the Arizona State Forestry Department supressing wildland fires in May of 2003 and have worked as a firefighter type II (FFT2), advanced firefighter (FFT1), and now as an engine boss (ENGB) and crewboss (CRWB). I also have training in basic tree falling (FALA) and as an incident commander (ICT4 and ICT5).  I am qualified as a public information officer (PIO2) and served as the lead PIO for Southwest Area IMT 4 (SWA IMT 4) for 4 years. I am currently in training for firing boss (FIRB) and strike team leader.

Upon completion of my BAS from NAU in Forestry with an emphasis in Fire Management and Ecology I hope to work for a fedral agency in the DOI or USDA as a Fire Management Officer.
