[State]: Tennessee
[Date]: 11/12/2022
[Incident Type]: Animals or Insects

An IHC crewmember working on containment line preparation for a prescribed burn was stung in the face resulting anaphylactic shock and loss of consciousness. The crew EMTs began treatment, including administration of the individual’s epi-pen and oxygen while requesting both ground and air transport to a higher level of medical care. The air transport was not filled, as the ceiling was too low, so the crew packed the crew member out to an agency vehicle and met an ambulance on the highway. The ambulance transported to a hospital, where the crew member was treated and released within about 2 hours. The crew superintendent worked with the local unit for any CISM needs and the crew member returned to work the same day.
